Until recently, the treatment for the cases that didn't response to local treatments was the removal of the sweat glands by surgery. In recent years,however, Botox treatments have been demonstrated scientifically to be a very effective and safe remedy.

The treatment involves injecting under the armpits skin, small amounts of the toxin in multiple sites. The injected area is selected by the iodine-starch test which allow the identification of the sweat glands. The procedure is painless and the effect can be felt within 1-2 weeks. It can last in some cases more than a year.
